miten kameran takuun ja takuuajan tarkistaminen onnistuu?

tällaista allaolevaa varoituksen sanaa löysin ebayn kautta liittyen noihin ulkomailta tilattujen kameroiden takuihin, eli ns. kansainvälinen takuu on hölynpölyä, euroopan, yhdysvallat tai vaikkapa aasian takuu sitten asia erikseen.
olen itse alustavasti viimein sopinut kameran ostosta, muuan kaveri olisi tuomassa nikon d300 - rungon saksasta, joten ymmärtääkseni siinä pitäisi silloin olla nikon european warranty joka 24 kk, tosin en voi olla varma, mitä reittejä kamera tulee.
millä voin face-to-face ostotilanteessa varmistua siitä, että kamera on virallista euroopan stockia, nikonin ostomaahan tuoma, eikä esimerkiksi harmaata importia? miksi esim nikonilla esiintyy euroopan takuina toisaalla 12 kk ja toisaalla 24 kk?

Nikon International Warranty - does it cover the UK?

Thinking of buying a Nikon from outside the UK or one from in the UK that has an 'International Warranty rather than a European one?
Many sellers on ebay are currently advertising these cameras - they are either sellers from outside the UK or sellers who have imported these cameras.
The simple truth is, an Nikon International Warranty will not allow you to get your camera fixed by Nikon here in the UK or anywhere in Europe.
It is clearly stated on the Nikon website under warranty (along with a lot of other useful info about the risks of buying from abroad.)
For me, the pertinent bit taken straight from the Nikon site is this
**WARNING**
Please be wary of dealers claiming to be able to sell or provide you an international warranty for digital equipment when you are purchasing from overseas, or from importers. THIS IS FALSE . International warranty for these products is unavailable.
So - if the dealer is for example a camera supplier in Hong Kong they may well be offering thier own warranty - i.e if anything is wrong with it, you will have to ship it back to Hong Kong for them to repair it (if they are still around of course) it won't be reapired by Nikon. If you are buying from a UK buyer who has a camera with International warranty, but doesn't offer their own warranty service, you probably have no cover at all. Again on the website it will tell you all warranties are regional - i.e Eurpean Warranty, America or Asia etc (not International).
To be honest you won't even save a lot of money - UK suppliers such as Amazon, Dixons and so on offer great deals on these cameras and Nikon often run cash back promotions. If it all goes pear shaped and you are left with a faulty camera and no warranty it's an expensive mistake to make.
Of course that doesn't mean don't buy a Nikon camera from ebay. Look for a product with an in date European warranty if you are buying New or nearly new. If you are happy to buy an older product outside of warranty, then it is of course the feedback system that tells us best if it's a safe bet or not.
